Wystawa World Press Photo po raz pierwszy w historii zawita do Chorzowa.

To ważne wydarzenie dla wszystkich miłośników fotografii: wystawa jest bowiem prezentacją najlepszych zdjęć nagrodzonych w World Press Photo, najważniejszym konkursie fotografii prasowej na świecie. Ostatnim razem w regionie wystawa gościła ponad dziesięć lat temu zawsze ciesząc się dużą popularnością.
 - Postanowiliśmy ponownie zaprezentować najlepsze zdjęcia prasowe świata - mówi Andrzej Kotala, Prezydent Chorzowa. - To będzie okazja do obcowania ze sztuką fotografii na najwyższym poziomie.
Wystawa prezentowana będzie w hali byłej Elektrowni Huty Królewskiej. To piękne, poprzemysłowe miejsce jest wpisane do rejestru zabytków województw śląskiego.
Mieszkańcy regionu fotografie będą mogli oglądać przez trzy tygodnie.
 - Wystawa World Press Photo jest marką samą w sobie, a my chcemy zaproponować mieszkańcom coś unikatowego - mówi Magdalena Sekuła, Pełnomocnik Prezydenta Chorzowa ds. Aktywizacji Społecznej. - Zaplanowaliśmy także wiele wydarzeń towarzyszących by w to wydarzenie było okazją spotkania wszystkich miłośników dobrej fotografii.
Wstęp na wystawę będzie wolny. Wernisaż zaplanowano na 25. 05. 2016 r., godz. 18. Wystawę będzie można oglądać od 26. 05. - 15. 06. 2016 r., codziennie, od poniedziałku do piątku w godz. 10 - 20, a w weekendy i święta w godz. 10 - 22.
Organizatorem wydarzenia jest Urząd Miasta w Chorzowie i Centrum Integracji Międzypokoleniowej.
Przypomnijmy: World Press Photo to najważniejszy konkurs branżowy fotografów z całego świata pracujących dla prasy. Organizatorem jest Fundacja World Press Photo, która działa od 1955 roku. Konkurs odbywa się corocznie, wyniki ogłaszane są w lutym. Przebiega w kilkunastu kategoriach obejmujących fotografie pojedyncze i serie (reportaże), takich jak zdjęcie roku, sportowe sytuacje, życie codzienne, portrety, przyroda i.t.d. Rokrocznie na konkurs swoje prace wysyła kilka tysięcy fotografów z całego świata. Wystawa jest prezentacją najlepszych zdjęć wyłonionych w ramach konkursu World Press Photo.

Topic: World Press Photo 2016 Exhibition in Chorzów

World Press Photo Exhibition for the first time in the history will be issued in Chorzow.

This is an important event for all lovers of photography. Exhibition is in fact a presentation of the photo contest which rewards photographers for the best single exposure pictures contributing to the past year of visual journalism. The last time Exhibition was hosted in the region more than ten years ago and always reached great popularity.
 - We decided to present again the best journalistic pictures in the world - said Andrzej Kotala, President of Chorzów - It will be an opportunity to contact with art photography at the highest level.
The exhibition will be presented in the hall of the former power plant in Huta Królewska (Royal Steelworks). This beautiful postindustrial place is registered in the Silesian Voivodeship register of objects of cultural heritage. Residents of the region will be able to view photos for three weeks.
World Press Photo Exhibition is the worldwide brand and through it we would like to propose something unique to our inhabitants - said Magdalena Sekuła, Representative of the President for Chorzów in the field of Social Activisation - We have also planned many accompanying events. It will be a great opportunity to meet all lovers of good photography.
Admission to the exhibition will be free of charge. The vernissage is scheduled for 25 May of 2016 at 7 PM.
The exhibition will be available for the general audience in the dates from 26 May to 15 June 2016. Opening hours will be 10 AM to 8 PM from Monday to Friday and 10 AM to 10 PM on the weekends and holidays.
Organizer of the event is the City Hall in Chorzów together with Intergenerational Integration Centre.
Recall: World Press Photo is the most important contest of press photographers in the World. Organiser of the contest is the World Press Photo Foundation which was established in 1955. Contest is yearly and results are announced in February.
In the contest there are many categories including single pictures as well as stories (reportages). The competition categories include, among others: Photo of the Year, Sport, Daily Life, Nature etc. Every year World Press Photo Foundation gets several thousand of pictures from the entire world. The exhibition is a presentation of the best photos selected in the framework of the World Press Photo 2016 contest.
